BACKGROUND
So far in the co-design year, there have been two kinds of course modules. Most of the course modules so far have been testing course-prototypes that faculty members produced through sprinting. The second type of course co-designing involves students working under the instruction of faculty to actually design a course prototype for future instructors to consult.
This “Co-Design Rhetoric” is the first module to adopt the second model of course co-designing. Both students and faculty participating are challenged daily to move forward towards the goal of designing a course that involve the perspective of both teachers and students.
The uniqueness of this challenging process is analyzed and recorded on this site to illustrate the journey from various faculty and student perspectives.

Over the course of 4 weeks - 15 class days, students have gone through 4 main big tasks in order to accomplish the goal of designing a Rhetoric Course for Fulbright University Vietnam.
During the first week, the class learned about the meaning of rhetoric and went through the process of identifying the role of Co-Designers in this unique module.
Second week was devoted to figuring out the process of this course-designing module and reconciling the different expectations of students and faculty.
In the following week, students spent time working in groups to write research proposals to make recommendations about the elements crucial in the Rhetoric course.
In the last week of the module, students worked on 2 final products which are syllabus of Rhetoric Course and the Visual Journey to provide guidelines for future instructors and to record the process of designing a course.
MILESTONES
Expectation Conflict
While faculty entered this module with a high expectation and excitement of co-designing the course from scratch with students, all of the students assumed that they were coming to test for test the prototype that has already been created. The class had to go through the first week to be in the proper spirit of working together for the rest of the module.
